Plymouth 42, Warsaw 33

  The Warsaw Tiger Wrestling team lost a closely contested NLC dual to Plymouth on Thursday night.  

Warsaw opened the night with a win by pinfall from Jacob Linky at 170 pounds. Plymouth responded with an immediate pin of their own in the next match.

Freshman 195-pounder, Chase Carl stepped into the varsity lineup for the first time and was a winner by pin to put Warsaw up 12-6. Another freshman, Isaac Beam, held tough in limiting his opponent to a major decision after a late takedown extended the match score.

Plymouth took their first lead of the night after a pin at 285. Warsaw picked up wins by forfeit from Bryce McNees and Elias Garza at 106 and 113 to move the Tigers back on top 24-16.

Plymouth went on a run of pin – tech fall – pin at 120, 126, and 132 to take a 33-24 lead that they wouldn’t surrender.

Andrew Ross won a tough 5-0 decision at 138 pounds to get Warsaw back on the scoreboard.

A Plymouth pin at 145 put the team score at 27-39, and a tightly-fought scrap at 152 pushed Plymouth’s lead to 27-42.

In the night’s final match, Jaxson Walters found himself in a back-and-forth match, before finding a reversal and pin to close the night out.

The loss for Warsaw moves their record to 4-5 and 1-3 in the NLC. Warsaw will travel to Northridge on Saturday for the Raider Super Duals.

Manchester 42, Tippecanoe Valley 25

On Thursday night, the Viking wrestlers traveled to Manchester and lost a hard-fought match to the Squires.

Branson McBrier and Brandon Hammer led the Vikings with impressive victories over two returning semi-state qualifiers. Ian Becker had a nice pin win, while Drake Montelongo and Barrett Heller picked up forfeits to wrap up the scoring for the evening.

The Vikings are next in action at Northridge for the Raider Super Duals on Saturday.

Mishawaka 40, NorthWood 30

Mishawaka held off the Panthers in The Cave to remain unbeaten in the Northern Lakes Conference at 3-0. NorthWood with the loss drops to 1-1 overall in the NLC. Results from the match were not immediately provided.
