Tiger Wrestling vs. Plymouth

One gym. One light bulb. 14 match ups. 200+ fans.

Plymouth has set not just the stage, but the atmosphere for a night of contention.

Enter the Pilgrim's layer. The gym is dark except for a single 1,000 watt halogen light suspended directly over the center of the wrestling mat in the center of the floor. Faces are dimly lit along the edge of the mat and throughout the stands. As the match begins, the voices carry no less volume than in the bright of day or glare of fully lit overhead arena lighting.

Before the match, there is talk of moving 140 lbs wrestler, Paul Manbu up to the 145 lbs class if it comes down to the team winning or losing. That would mean he would have to wrestle one of the very few people who beat him, Chase Lewandowski. It would also mean, Paul would be working against a worthy opponent who would have a small weight advantage in order to save the entire team from defeat.

Fortunately, the first weight class of the night. 152lbs, was an opportunity for Demarcus Gibson to put the Tigers ahead with a pin. More points would follow and a few given up all the way through the heavyweight class until the 103 lbs class.

Once 103 lbs Jarred Brooks flattened his opponent in a few seconds, more pins quickly followed from Luis Munoz (119), Kyle Duzan (125), and Jordan Horney (130). By this point, the meet was all but math. Manbu easily defeated his 140 lbs opponent as the Tigers rolled on to a 38-30 victory over the Plymouth Pilgrims.
