GOSHEN - It could have been easy for the Lady Tigers to look ahead to a potential sectional matchup against powerful Elkhart Memorial, and take their first round opponent lightly. But the determined Tigers did not skip a beat and stayed focused throughout its 25-10, 25-8, 25-10 crushing victory over the host Redskins.
Warsaw, moving into a second-round semifinal matchup against Elkhart Memorial with the win, saw its first deficit come trailing 2-1 in the third game. But the only Goshen lead of the night came short-lived as the Tigers reeled off eight straight points with Alex Sanchez serving en route to the third and final game victory.
Top performers were: Aces - Alex Sanchez 3, Andi Frazzetta 3, Jamie Lacheta 3; Assists - Chloe Hubner 24, Megan Chauncey 4; Blocks - Nicole Nulf 2, Kate Voelz 1; Digs - Alex Sanchez 21, Emily Poe 10; Kills - Jamie Lacheta 17, Sarah Heagy 5.
Warsaw and Memorial will square off at 11am Saturday with Concord and Elkhart Central meeting in the second of two semis. The winners will play at 7 for the sectional championship and a berth to next week's regional. The winner of the Goshen sectional will travel to the winner of the Mishawaka sectional for this matchup.
