WARSAW NETS TWO CHAMPS, PANTHERS BUSY AT GOSHEN SECTIONAL

GOSHEN – Warsaw netted two individual champions among its work at the Goshen Boys Track Sectional Thursday evening at Foreman Field.

Tanner Stiver claimed the 800 run title with a finish of 1:57.46, outgunning NorthWood’s Brady Hunsberger to the line, the Panther junior at 1:59.85. Cam Harness had the second title, taking the high jump crown at 6-0 in a square off with Fairfield’s Stevan Plett, who also made 6-0 but after Harness achieved the mark.

Warsaw also was runner-up in the 4×400 relay (3:28.03), Jeremy Johnson in the 400 (50.32) and Will Wells in the discus (149-05). Third places for Warsaw, which qualify for the Kokomo Regional next Thursday, include Andrew Frush in the 110 hurdles (15.65) and 300 hurdles (42.95).

Hunsberger grabbed a second spot at the regional with a third-place run in the mile (4:25.81). Also donning the Panther tops next week will be Brad Demitruk in pole vault, placing second at 13-0, and Brevin Miller in shot put, placing third at 48-10.

Wawasee didn’t have much success in the meet. The Warriors only scored six points in four events, the best a sixth-place 53.87 by Mason Possell in the 400. They were eighth in the three others.

Northridge won the team title with 132 points, holding off Elkhart’s 117 points and Warsaw’s 91.5 points.
