On an unseasonably cold and windy day in early June, the Warsaw Lady Tigers wrapped up the 2012 season with some impressive and inspiring results. Warsaw ended up tied for 23rd place with 10 points.

Junior Ashley Erba capped off her undefeated 3200m season by winning the State title in running Indiana's 4th best time ever in 10:24.94. She ran shoulder to shoulder with North Central's Brenna Poulson for the first mile before pulling away going into the 5th lap. Her lead quickly grew over the next 4 laps and she finished with nearly a 13 second victory. This is Erba's second State title following her Cross Country championship in October 2011.

Senior Lauren Burish used her 2011 State Meet experience to advance to this years' finals in Discus but came up just 7 inches short of being an All-State selection in placing 10th in the state (125' 3"). Lauren met her season-long goal of making it to the Discus finals after placing 18th in 2011.

Sophomore Claire Hickerson overcame early meet nerves and cleared two heights before bowing out at 11' 0" in the Pole Vault competition while ending up 15th in the state. This was her first State meet experience and will look to use this to perform even better in the future.

Sophomore Ann Harvuot was also at her first State meet and finished 17th in the 100m Dash while running 12.76 in the preliminary round. While getting to race against quality competition this season, this was Ann's first time facing the quantity of fast runners in the 100m and looks to return and be a finalist in 2013.

4x800m team faced challenges in the week leading up to the State meet by losing senior Lilly Fleming to a surgery and alternate Ellie Bearss (9) to injury early in the week. The team of Brooke Kline (12), Anna Bearss (10), Kristin Quick (11) and Kendra Paton (9) crossed the line in 10:09.37 in 26th place.

In the final event of the evening, the 4x400m team of Nicole Eckert (9), Jackie Ferguson (10), Megan Kratzsch (9), and Tennie Worrell (9) all ran their best relay splits of the season and raced to a season-best time 4:02.10 for 11th place in the State, just two spots out of All-State honors. The future looks bright with all four of these girls returning for next season.

The Lady Tigers went 11-0 (7-0) on the season while winning the Churubusco Invitational, the Kokomo Relays, the NLC, Sectional and Regional Championships while setting 9 new outdoor school records along the way (1600m x 3, 3200m x 4, Pole Vault x 2). Six girls were selected as Academic All-State (Ashley Erba, Samantha Jensen, Jamie Lacheta, Kayla Bixler (Honor. Ment.), Lilly Fleming (Honor. Ment.), and Brooke Kline (Honor. Ment.)). This was truly Warsaw's: BEST. SEASON. EVER.
