SAGINAW, Mich. – Delaney Wihebrink just keeps on truckin’.

The freshman sensation with Grand Valley State University and 2019 Warsaw Community High School graduate set herself up for a big finish to her rookie season with the Lakers. Wihebrink won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference swim title in the 100 breaststroke this past weekend, posting a 1:03.54 in the championship round. Wihebrink also finished second in the 200 breast, going 2:18.44, trailing only teammate Samantha Laurich at 2:17.00.

Wihebrink earned a bid to the Division II Nationals with her 100 breast and 200 breast times, both fitting into the B group for the tournament that runs March 11-14 at Kent State University.

Wihebrink, who was a two-time Athlete of the Week with GVSU this season, graduated from Warsaw with the best finish ever for a Tiger swimmer at the IHSAA State Finals, taking third in the 100 breast last winter. Wihebrink was also a Northern Lakes Conference and sectional champion in the event as a senior and holds the school record in the event.
