The Warsaw Girl's basketball team knew if they could get a win Tuesday night, they could do no worse than tie for a Northern Lakes Conference title. Warsaw looked to improve to 6-0 in NLC action.

The class 4A #10 Elkhart Memorial Lady Crimson Chargers had different ideas. The Lady Chargers were looking to stay in the race after losses to Northridge and Northwood left them 3-2 in the NLC.

College basketball scouts from Wisconsin, Western Michigan, and Grace were on hand to witness this talent-laden battle at the Tiger Den.

Of course, the Lady Tigers feature senior standout Kelci Freds who averages just under 16 ppg. Warsaw also has junior Kayla Stout who has garnered the attention of college recruiters with her outstanding play this season. Read More »

The words "Perfect Game" are usually reserved for that contest in which two amazing teams fight to an ending that decides the game in the final minutes. Like a Colts/Patriots game in which ESPN immediately begins to air the footage on ESPNClassic.

This contest between the Warsaw Lady Tigers and Concord Lady Minutemen was much different. Different in that only the Lady Tigers came into this contest considered a good team while Concord was struggling along at 7-8 (0-3 NLC).

That being said, this game turned out to be perfect for the Lady Tigers. Listen to this and see if you can find the amazing set of circumstances that occurred over the first 3:30 of action. Mind you, these were the first 5 times the Lady Tigers touched the ball... Read More »

How do you overcome 25 turnovers against a team ranked 12th in the state? What do you do when your leading scorer has an off night? You fight and hope like crazy your opponent is having the same kind of night.

Penn came to the Tiger Den ranked #12 4A with a 12-2 record. Their only losses were to Elkhart Memorial and Chicago Von Steuben, IL. Penn has two girls that will play Division 1 basketball.

Warsaw Coach Michelle Harter knew the contest was going to be hard fought.

She instilled 4 pre-game keys to her team before they took the floor... Read More »

One Step Closer to the NLC Crown...

Tonight's write up could simply be, "Goshen's Pep Band was awesome." Stop there and call it a night.

Or maybe the entire article could be, "Warsaw Lady Tigers took the floor and never gave it back." Done.

From the first 2 buckets scored by Sarah Shilling and Kayla Stout to the lack-luster ending, it was all Warsaw. Name a stat, it was Warsaw who owned it. Despite the brutal beat down, Goshen played with spirit and energy. They didn't just drag around the court in total defeat. They held their heads up and played hard. Read More »

  • One Team's Dream is Another's Nightmare - Lady Tigers Fall to FW Carroll in Heartbreaker

The .89ยข bucket of pop for the long drive to Northern Fort Wayne may have sounded like a great idea. But the need for "relief" nullified most of the joy as the quest to find the gym at Carroll High School in Huntertown was finally satisfied by asking directions of a teacher leaving the front of the school. Actually it was the urgent quest for the restroom first.

Even though Carroll may be a decent sized school undergoing some remodeling/additions, the gym for the freshman team was little more than a cold, dimly lit, yellowish cave. The freshman lost an ugly game. At least it was dark enough to hide the looks on their faces.

The JV played across the hall in the main gym, which is not much bigger than the WCHS freshman gym. Although Warsaw was up by 3 at the half, the Lady Chargers found a way to hold the Lady Tigers down and win 43-29.

DING, DING! The main event. Read More »

A night after the Warsaw boys team traveled North to battle the Northridge Raiders, the Warsaw Lady Tigers would host the Lady Raiders at the Tiger Den.

Coach Michelle Harter's Lady Tigers started the season with 9 consecutive wins. She then saw her squad drop their last two contests. The first defeat was at the hands of a physically strong Perry Meridian team during the TCU Holiday Tourney. The second loss came Tuesday night at Marion versus the Lady Giants.

At first glance, the schedule did not look any easier with Northridge coming to town. The Lady Raiders brought an impressive 9-3 record with them into the Tiger Den. They also were perfect in the NLC conference with victories over Concord & Goshen. Read More »
