PLYMOUTH - Warsaw girls soccer team fell behind an inspired Plymouth squad and trailed 1-0 for much of the match, but the Tigers took advantage of a late opportunity and emerged with a 2-1 victory in penalty kicks in the semifinal of the Plymouth sectional.

The Tigers, 12-2-2 advance to Saturday's 7pm championship match at Plymouth. Despite entering with only four wins, Plymouth keeper turned back nine shots and the two teams were fairly even on shots with Warsaw holding a 12-10 advantage and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Pilgrims moved ahead with a score late in the first half and the match stood 1-0 until the final six minutes of the match when a Tiger attacker was taken down in the box by two Plymouth defenders.

Erica Gauger stepped up to take the penalty kick and her rocket shot sailed into the back of the net to even the match up. After a scoreless six minutes and then two scoreless 7-minute periods, the two teams moved to penalty kicks.

Plymouth took the first shot but Tiger Keeper Abby Schue, who had nine saves on the night, made the stop on a ball hit right at her. Emily Williamson, Emily Tandy, and Gabby Monroy each hit their PK attempts and the Tigers were up 3-1 after three rounds, one Tiger goal or one Plymouth miss would end the match. After a successful shot by a Pilgrim made it 3-2, Kelly Williams' bid for the net was denied. The next Plymouth shooter's shot went wide, giving the Tiger's the victory.
