LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 1, LAKEWOOD PARK CHRISTIAN 1
Heading over to Auburn Thursday, LCA was able to salvage a point against LPC.
All of the scoring came in the final two minutes of the first half, when Trenton Parker slotted home LCA’s only goal in the 38th minute, assisted by Micah Mansfield. In the final seconds of the half. Trey VanDyken converted on a critical mistake by LCA after a foul in the penalty box resulted in VanDyken’s penalty chance.
Both keepers would hold the result, with Remington Swanson making 12 saves for the Cougars and Josh Pike making eight stops for the Panthers.
“I was disappointed in our first half, Lakewood Park controlled the game and we scored against the run of play,” said LCA head coach Dan Miller. “However, the boys adjusted to the pace and play of the game in the second stanza. We were the better team, but we just couldn’t finish of our chances.”
LCA (5-2-1) will host Caston Saturday.
WARSAW 2, PENN 1
Warsaw won the battle of perennial powers with a big defensive performance.
A penalty conversion by Blake Burns followed by a goal from Jorge Rico had the Tigers up early. It was enough, as Penn was only able to break through the Warsaw defense once just before the half and nothing in the second half.
Harrison Mevis earned a quality win between the pipes, making three saves.
Burns would lead No. 15 Warsaw with six shots taken, part of an 18-shot compilation on the Kingsmen.
Warsaw (5-2-3) will take on Fort Wayne Concordia Saturday.
