Brownsburg 15 - Warsaw 5

Warsaw traveled to Brownsburg and played against a strong Brownsburg side.

"Brownsburg usually has a strong program", said Coach Trevor Cracknell.

Warsaw took the lead early in the first half from a try by Brooke Netherland (Junior). Brownsburg then came out strong scoring two tries before the end of the first half to lead 10 to 5.

Brownsburg then scored another midway through the second half against the run of play capitalizing on a Warsaw mistake.

"The difference between the two teams was that they took the few chances they had to score and we did not. Overall the whole team played well on an uneven muddy field which made running and ball handling difficult."

Warsaw 25 - Westfield Nil

Warsaw played a second game against a first-year team from Westfield high school.

"I was asked if we could play this game late last week", said coach Trevor Cracknell.

Warsaw started the game strongly with Allyson Walls (Freshman) crashing over for a try early in the first half followed late in the half by a try by Liz Marroquin (Freshman).

Warsaw had a 10 points to nil lead at the end of the first half.

"We started the second half strongly pushing the Westfield side back, both of attack and defense."

Warsaw scored early in the half on a well-worked switch move between Katy Cobb (Junior) and Shelby Creekmore (Freshman) who cut a path through the Westfield defense to score.

Warsaw then scored two more tries with Harley Bentley (Freshman) and Liz Marroquin scoring her second of the game late in the second half.

"It's good to go into the playoffs on the back of two good performances, especially the second game having already played a tough game on a heavy muddy field", said coach Trevor Cracknell. "The experience gained over the past two weekends will help us as we enter the state championship playoffs. It's sometimes hard to pick out just one player when a team is playing so well but Liz Marroquin was outstanding in both games. She terrorized both of her opponent scrum half's around the scrum and made many tackles during the games."

The draw for the state championships will be announced on Monday May 9th.
