Sunday, April 17th, 2011
Warsaw, Indiana
Warsaw 47 Noblesville 5
The Warsaw girls recoded their first win on Sunday in emphatic style despite the cold and windy conditions. They took the lead very early in the first half with two quick tries in succession from Junior Brooke Netherland followed quickly by a try from Lakeview 8th grader, Sidney Hernandez which was converted by Netherland.
Two further tries were added before the end of the half by Junior Katy Cobb and Freshman Mayra Malagon to make the half time score 27-Nil in favor of Warsaw.
The second half started well for Warsaw with an early tries from Freshmen Liz Marroquin and Shelby Creekmore with a second for Malagon following after.
Noblesville then started to come back on Warsaw and had their best period of the game scoring a try with only about 3 minutes of the game left.
However, Warsaw had the last score of the day with a spectacular long distance individual effort by Caty Cobb.
"The girls played very well", said coach Trevor Cracknell. "We are still an inexperienced side with a lot to learn. However, this game showed that we are learning from our mistakes. This team has a lot of potential for the future. Its hard to single out players in a game where everyone played so well but Allyson Walls (freshman) was my MVP".
Warsaw's next game is Saturday April 23rd at Carmel.
