Warsaw 15 - Bishop Dwenger 15

Warsaw and Bishop Dwenger both played hard all game and neither team deserved to win or lose.

"It's rare that a rugby game ends in a draw", said coach Trevor Cracknell, "but I think it was a fair result last night."

Warsaw opened up a lead early in the first half with a try by Brooke Netherland (Junior) followed half way through the half by a try from Tenley Gillet (Senior Culver Girls Academy).

Bishop Dwenger then came back on Warsaw forcing a penalty in front of the goal post which was kicked by Gabrielle Rahrg. The first half ended with Warsaw leading by 10 points to 3.

The second started well for Warsaw with Brooke Netherland once agin scoring a try early. Bishop Dwenger then seemed to be stung into action with Gabrielle Rahrg running in two tries, the last being almost at full time. She converted the first try but failed to convert the last which would have won Bishop Dwenger the game.

The Bishop Dweneger team was only formed this spring so, like Warsaw, has a number of young and inexperienced players.

"It's going to be fun watching these two young teams develop", said coach Cracknell.

"I think this is going result in some very close and good local rivalry games in the years to come. Gabrielle from Bishop Dweneger was outstanding as was Warsaw's Liz Marroquin (Freshman)."

Warsaw will be taking part in the Midwest Rugby Festival this weekend in Carmel, Indiana.

Warsaw's next league game is on Sunday, May 8th in Brownsburg.
