WARSAW 97.6, EAST NOBLE 93.9

Warsaw was able to withstand East Noble’s Miah Hudson on her home equipment to pick up a team win in its season opener Tuesday in Kendallville.

Hudson was the top all-around performer with a compiled score of 34.7, outdueling Warsaw ace Remi Beckham’s 34.2. But the Tigers would claim the next four spots in the all-around tally, allowing for the point stacking.

Hudson and Beckham split honors in the four disciplines, Hudson scoring 9.1 on vault and 8.35 on bars while Beckham had an 8.5 on beam and 9.15 on floor to lead the individual scoring.

Warsaw would take third on three of the four events, with Daylen Turner scoring 8.75 on floor and 8.65 on vault and Sydni Purvis a 7.1 on bars. Purvis was fourth on beam at 8.05, short of Jenna Zabona’s 8.45 and Hudson’s 8.35.

Anna Wainscott added a fourth-place tally of 6.95 on bars.

Turner had a 30.75 all-arounder for third, Purvis a 30.45 and Adree Beckham a 30.30.

Kaia Hummitch added an 8.05 on vault and 7.0 on floor in JV competition.

Warsaw (1-0) will compete again Saturday at the Plymouth Invite.

ANGOLA 101.65, WAWASEE 100.35

Another dual season opener in Steuben County as Angola hosted Wawasee in both team’s dual debuts.

The duo of Jada Parzygnot and Aundreya Wegener kept Wawasee in it, Parzygnot leading the way in all-around at 34.95 and Wegener third at 33.3. Parzygnot was tops on both beam (9.15) and floor (9.35) and was second on vault at 8.9 while Wegener was second on both beam (8.7) and floor (9.0).

Wawasee’s struggles on bars, where the Hornets took the top three spots, was its demise in the team scoring, posting just a 22.375 to Angola’s 25.1. Wawasee would make up some ground on beam, outscoring Angola 25.4-23.35, but also were a point back on vault 26.7-25.75.

Emma Schoenherr had the top vault score with a 9.3 and Ashtyn Evans led the sweep on bars with a 9.05.

Wawasee (0-1) returns to action Thursday at Fort Wayne Carroll.
