Boys Golf Team Starts Season With Solid Performances, Destroys Homestead Monday Night at Stonehenge

Coach Ben Barkey has high expectations for the 2010 Tiger Golf Team. The Tigers return five players from last years 13-3 team that captured an NLC title.

Warsaw's top five players are:

Tyler Ostrom (So.)

Eric Tandy (Jr.)

Bennett Hollar (So.)

Kal Denlinger (Sr.)

Mitchell Gauger (Jr.)

Newcomers Jon Schram and Tim Alhersmeyer are also expected to see some varsity action this season. These talented Freshman have proven their worth in junior golf action over the summer. So far this season the Tigers have participated in two weekend invitationals with early success. Perhaps not the exact success Barkey will look to achieve at season's end at the IHSAA State Finals, but success nonetheless considering his team has just one senior member.

RESULTS FROM APRIL 19

The Tigers won their first dual match at Stonehenge Golf Course Monday night by beating FW Homestead by fifteen strokes. Warsaw fired an incredible 302 to the visiting Homestead's 317 on the par 71 course just east of Winona Lake. Eric Tandy paced the Tiger effort with a one over par score of 72 on this night of near perfect weather. Four other Warsaw golfers shot in the seventies to secure the victory:

The Tiger's are 1-0 on the season after their dual meet victory. They will travel to Fort Wayne Thursday night to take on Blackhawk Christian.

RESULTS FROM APRIL 17

The varsity golf team finished 10th in the Spring Preview in Franklin on Saturday. In a field with ten ranked teams, Tyler Ostrom finished 13th overall with a 77. Other Tiger scores included:

RESULTS FROM APRIL 10

The Tiger golf teams were in action on Saturday with the varsity finishing third in the annual Hall of Fame Invitational at Rock Hollow in Peru. In a field with twelve state ranked teams, the fifteenth ranked Tigers, were led by Tyler Ostrom's 78 which was good for 6th place overall as individual. Eric Tandy finished in 13th with a 79 while Mitchell Gauger was 19th with an 81. Other scores included Bennett Hollar and Kal Denlinger with 87's.
