DEMOTTE – NorthWood and Warsaw both got another chance aside from the state tournament to see some of the best teams in the state Saturday at the Hall of Fame Invite at Sandy Pines Golf Club.

NorthWood finished in a tie for 11th overall with Crown Point at 362 while Warsaw was 15th at 390 among the 18-team field in the prestigious tournament.

Just two weeks clear of the Northern Lakes Conference tournament, the two NLC dwellers played in a field that had 13 of the 18 teams ranked in the latest coaches poll top 20, including all five of the top five. No. 1 Zionsville won the tourney with a 302, with No. 2 Evansville North second one stroke back at 303, followed by No. 3 Homestead (307), No. 4 Carmel (321) and No. 11 Valparaiso (327).

NorthWood, ranked No. 12 in the poll, had Cybil Stillson lead the team with a round of 80, followed by MacKenzie Weaver at 91, Makenna Gall at 94 and Delaney Davis at 97. Abby Slabaugh had the fifth-man score at 102.

Warsaw had three of its four come in under 100, led by Grayson Kilburn’s 91. Julia Hildebrand shot a 96, Izzy Ray a 98 and Miriam Hagg a 105. Madelyn Ray was the fifth score at 109.

NorthWood will head back into NLC play Monday with a trio at Christiana Creek against host Elkhart Memorial and Plymouth. Warsaw will play Tuesday at Bent Oak against host Concord and Northridge, also NLC play.
