TIGERS TAKE BOTH SETS OF TITLES AT HOME INVITE

Warsaw found success on both sides of its home invitational Saturday at the Warsaw Community Pool. The girls team rolled to a 676 final score to top eight opponents, with runner-up Northwestern at 464 points. The boys team found similar success, scoring 607 points to stay well clear of runner-up Northwestern’s 463 in the nine-team field.

The boys team set a pool record of 1:30.49 in the 200 free relay, comprised of Michael Ray, Nick Bazzoni, Zach LaLonde and Grant Knight. Warsaw won five other events in its title quest, the same quartet winning the medley relay, LaLonde taking the 200 freestyle, Ray the 50 and 100 frees, and Knight the breaststroke.

The girls had all three of its relays claim titles. Rachel Doyle, Melissa Deming, Taylor Gunter and Lily Boston earned the medley, Gunter, Boston, Macelyn Marcuccilli and Gracie Scholl paced the 200 relay and Marcuccilli, Doyle, Scholl and Mariana Malagon won the 400 relay. Boston picked up a win in the 50 free.

PANTHERS PLACE FOURTH AT GOSHEN RELAYS

NorthWood kept pace with area opponents at Saturday’s Goshen Relays.

In mixed competition, NorthWood scored 150 points to place fourth, four shy of third-place Mishawaka, and both looking up at Goshen’s 172 and champion Angola’s 212 points. Marian and Canterbury both scored 88 to tie for fifth and Jimtown was seventh with 52 points.

The NorthWood diving crew of Caitlin Knepp, Nick Davis, Reagan Koble and Caden Jenkins combined to win the diving medley. Runner-up performances for NorthWood included the girls medley relay and the boys 200 free relay.
