MEET STEPHEN PRATER!
Written By TSN Staff on Thursday, October 27, 2011
Who: Stephen Prater, WCHS Senior
What: Manager for Football, Boys Basketball and Boys Track
When: ALL 4 Years!
Stephen Prater is a 4 year letterman. What that means in layman's terms is that this kid came out of middle school and proceeded to earn a varsity letter as a freshman. If that was not enough, Stephen Prater earned a varsity letter as a freshman in 3 different sports! Fast forward to his senior year and when the dust settles, Stephen Prater will walk out of Warsaw Community High School with 12 VARSITY LETTERS! This is not a typo. 12 VARSITY LETTERS!
It is almost impossible to describe the work that is involved to make sure everything is "right" when it comes to being the equipment manager. Overseeing the laundry operation alone for all 3 sports is a job in itself. Making sure that all of the equipment is in good condition and is functional is mind boggling.
Some of Stephen's favorite things:
Favorite food: Steak
Favorite TV show: Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe and MythBusters
Favorite music: Christian rock
Favorite college basketball team: Purdue (Coach Ogle has gotten to this kid!)
Favorite college football team: Troy
When asked about his relationship with all of the players in all 3 sports, Stephen did not hesitate with his answer ... "they respect me."
Stephen comes from a military family. After his career at WCHS is over, Stephen Prater is going to serve his country. Stephen is going to join the military. As soon as school is over and without any summer vacation, Stephen Prater is off to flight school to learn how to fly helicopters.
When asked why he wanted to join the military, Stephen, once again, didn't hesitate with his answer ... "I want to protect my country."
Stephen Prater will be almost impossible to replace. If one had to guess, the guess would be that it will take more than one person to fill such big shoes.
Warsaw Community High School will be losing an extremely valuable and respected young man.
The United States of America will be gaining one.
