The Warsaw volleyball team came up with a fourth-place finish Saturday in the Michigan City Tournament.
The Tigers beat Concord 25-17, 25-22 and Valparaiso 25-15, 25-23 in pool play. Fort Wayne Concordia topped Warsaw 25-14, 15-25, 15-9 in pool play.
Host Michigan City then beat the Tigers 25-22, 16-25, 19-17 in the third-place match.
Senior Lexie Day led the way for her team with 47 kills in their four matches. Day also had 38 digs and five aces in the tournament.
Erin Peugh led the defense with 60 digs and also had four aces and four assists.
Kacy Bragg totaled 106 assists on the day and had 25 digs and seven blocks.
Kennedy Lauck had 29 kills and a team-high 17 blocks. Katie Swanson had 22 kills and Hanna Leach 19. Betty Barnett had six blocks.
Warsaw is now 14-8 on the season. The Tigers host Carroll Tuesday night and NLC foe Wawasee Thursday night.
The Warsaw boys tennis junior varsity team placed fifth in the Goshen Tournament.
Host Goshen won the event with 18 points with Plymouth second with 17. Concord and NorthWood tied for third with 16 points each with Warsaw placing fifth with 14 points. Northridge was sixth with seven points with Elkhart Memorial seventh with five and Wawasee eighth with zero.
Warsaw hosts Concord for its final conference match Monday evening. The Northern Lakes Conference tourney then begins on Wednesday at Concord.
The Warsaw boys cross country team finished ninth in the New Prairie Invitational.
Lucas Howett led the way for the Tigers as he placed 16th overall in a time of 16:30.
Xavi Ramirez was next for Warsaw as he placed 35th overall in 16:56. Taylor Mills was 57th in 17:14 with Sam Lechlitnrt 87th in 17:46.
Justin Fleming was 88th in a time of 17:47 for the Tigers. Nathaniel Gottschalk was 100th in 17:55 and Eric Williamson 164th in 18:58.
Warsaw closes out conference action versus Plymouth and Wawasee Tuesday at the Pretty Lake Golf Club in Plymouth. The NLC Meet is set for Saturday, Sept. 30 at Ox Bow Park.
The Tigers, who were ranked No. 17 in the last coaches’ poll, are 5-0 in league action.
