On to Semi-State! Warsaw finished as Regional Runners Up Saturday in cold and windy conditions at Culver Academy. Needing to finish in the top five out of the ten schools participating, Warsaw tallied just 42 points and trailed only #5 ranked Eastern (Greentown) at the end. While the weather conditions hampered many athletes, the Lady Tigers ran strong races and improved their positioning throughout the race.

Ashley Erba set a new Regional and course best time as well as setting a new State best time while crossing the line in 17:12.5. She broke her old course/State record by just over a second that she set three weeks ago at the Culver Invitational meet. Sarah Ray ran a smart and tactical race to pull away from two Eastern runners in the last 2.5K to secure a fantastic 3rd place finish. Hannah Dawson returned to action and made up a lot of ground while finishing in an impressive 8th place. Emma Hayward and Madeline Hooks ran confidently and improved their times from Tuesday's Sectionals while finishing 12th and 18th respectively to round out the top 5 scoring. Seniors Tayler Mylin (26th) and Emily Stouder (29th) completed the Varsity squad finish with Tayler running her personal best time (21:15) and Emily just off of her's. As a team, the Varsity 7 ran the 4th fastest team time in school history.

Warsaw will next compete at the New Prairie Semi-State on Saturday, Oct.20 with the girls race starting at 10:30a (CST), or 11:30a (EST). 20 teams from the northwestern portion of the state will be competing for just 6 spots to advance to the State Meet in Terre Haute on Oct. 27. The Lady Tigers are looking to make the cut for the second year in a row and just the third time overall in school history.
