Erba Breaks Record As Tigers Place 4th in Huntington Invite

The Lady Tigers opened their 2011 season with a 4th place finish out of 13 teams at the Huntington Invitational Saturday. Warsaw's 128 points trailed only Carroll (35), Huntington North (110) and Homestead (110) while finishing in front of area powers West Noble (129) and Columbia City (140). Last year, Warsaw finished 6th as a team.

Leading the way for Warsaw were the 1st and 2nd place overall finishers Ashley Erba (18:34* New Course record) and Anna Bearrs (18:54 Personal Best). Brooke Kline (25th- 21:18), Creigh Ogle (49th-22:11), Kara Millington (57th-22:36) and Michelle Feng (63rd-22:52) finished out the Varsity scoring.

In the JV race, freshman Ellie Bearss took 8th place with a time of 22:40 while leading the team to a 4th place finish.

Next up for the Lady Tigers is the DeKalb Baron Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 27 and then they host their own Tiger Invite on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 5:00p at Miller Field on the Grace College campus.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

HUNTINGTON - The boys cross country team finished in third place, led by Jacob Poyner's first place finish. Poyner was also named Indiana's Runner of the Week.
