WARSAW – Wawasee and Lincoln stood tall as champions of the Northeast Lakes Middle School Conference girls basketball tournaments Saturday in games played at Warsaw Community High School.

WAWASEE WITHSTANDS EDGEWOOD IN FINAL

Wawasee won its two games to lay claim to the seventh grade championship. The Warriors beat Lincoln 39-30 then held off Edgewood 30-22 in the title game. Mackenzie Hackleman led the Warriors with 37 points in two games by hitting 11 three-pointers for the day. Julie Mishler also chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds in both games. Molly Beer also had five steals and 14 rebounds for the two games. The Warriors finished the season with a 13 – 1 record.

LINCOLN HOLDS OFF LAKEVIEW

A Lincoln win over Bremen and Lakeview triumph over Edgewood pitted the two in the championship game. Lincoln came back to beat Lakeview 41-32, breaking a 28-all tie with just a minute to play by hitting eight straight free throws in the final minute to ice the contest.
