Tigers Rebound Following Loss; Blowout Huntington North 69-45
Written By TSN Staff on Sunday, December 4, 2011
Just one night after suffering their first loss of the 2011-12 season, Coach Doug Ogle's Tiger Basketball team came out refocused Saturday night. That's bad news if you live in the Huntington, Indiana area.
For the first 4 minutes of this game the Vikings were able to hang tough with the Warsaw Tigers. The rest of the game - not so much!
After tying the game at 5 points a piece on a 3-point basket by senior guard, Brock Anson, the Tigers went on a 31-11 run to not only close the first half, but deliver a punch that Huntington North could never recover from.
HALFTIME SCORE: Warsaw 36 - Huntington North 16
Coach Ogle played 12 guys in all. He used 9 players for more than 10 minutes each in this lopsided victory.
Lucas Grose, who came into the game averaging more than 21 points per contest, was once again the leading scorer for Warsaw. Grose played twenty of the thirty- two minutes on the night. He also led the rebounding effort with 7 boards. Grose continues to live up to the preseason hype as well as the chant from the Tiger Cheer Block who absolutely adore the power forward. The Cheer Block is often heard chanting "YOU CAN'T STOP HIM!"
Junior guard Jared Bloom bounced back in this game. Bloom converted 4 of 5 field goals and a few free throws to score 12 points. The performance pushes the sharpshooting guard above 10 points per game in what has become an important third scoring option for the Tigers. Bloom forces defenses to concentrate on more than just Grose and Coon. Huntington's coach was often heard screaming "shooter!" to his players every time #3 for the Tigers (yes, that's Jared Bloom) touched the basketball.
Senior Jay Holladay played his best game of the season adding 9 big points. Junior forward Taylor Cone also added 9 points for the Tigers.
FINAL SCORE: Warsaw 69 - Huntington North 45
Complete Scoring for the Tigers:
