Last year the Warsaw Tigers battled the Rochester Zebras without their star player. Nic Moore sprained his ankle the previous game and simply could not go against Rochester. This year the Tigers played the Zebras without another star player, junior Lucas Grose. Grose suffered a concussion last week against Fort Wayne South.
How would the Class (4A) #3-ranked Tigers respond?
Warsaw didn't miss a beat.
Led again by 2011 Indiana Mr. Basketball candidate, Nic Moore, the Tigers drilled the unbeaten Zebras 76-54. Moore scored at will totaling 34 points on the night. Warsaw also had a big contribution from junior guard Jordyn Coon. Coon scored 16 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists to make up for the absence of his classmate Lucas Grose.
Jordyn Coon is getting quite a few looks from Division 1 teams. The moment Coon figures out just how good he can be may be that moment when the Tigers turn into the favorite to get back to Indianapolis. He has the size, the athletic ability, and the unselfish nature to compliment a superstar player like Nic Moore. When teams have to focus on all three of the Tiger's star weapons (Moore, Grose, & Coon) instead of just stopping Moore (which is impossible), Warsaw is a tough defeat for most small colleges.
Let alone high school teams.
Senior Jalen Roscoe stepped up big for the Tigers as well. Roscoe scored nine points, but more importantly grabbed a whopping 12 rebounds. Coach Doug Ogle has to love Jalen's rebounding potential for this team. Lucas Grose averages a team high 12 boards per game. Throw double-digit efforts from Roscoe into the mix and the Tigers will control the glass giving them more possessions per game. More touches for Moore, Coon, and Grose will certainly equal more points and more Tiger victories as the season goes on.
Warsaw controlled this game from the onset and grew their lead incrementally through each quarter. The Tigers took a 19-15 after the first eight minutes. That lead grew to 37-25 at halftime and 57-41 as they headed into the fourth quarter.
Final Score: 76-54 Tigers win.
Complete Scoring for the Tigers:
| Nic Moore | 34 |
| Jordyn Coon | 16 |
| Jalen Roscoe | 9 |
| Jay Holladay | 4 |
| Clay Anderson | 4 |
| Joey Sparkman | 3 |
| Brock Anson | 2 |
| Jared Bloom | 2 |
| Travis Thomas | 2 |
Now the Tigers (4-0) turn their attention to the Northern Lakes Conference. Warsaw will defend their perfect NLC record from last season as they hit the road to face county rival Wawasee. The Warriors are ranked #8 in class (3A) and are 4-1 on the year through five games. Wawasee averages nearly 90 points per contest.
Here is a complete look at who the Warriors have played so far in 2010:
Wawasee Warriors (Coach Phil Mishler)

| 11/27 | Angola | W (98-54) |

| 12/07 | Manchester | W (86-60) |
| 12/11 | Whitko | L (75-80) |
| 12/18 | WARSAW | TBA 12/17 |
Last year Warsaw defeated Wawasee 97-82 in the Tiger Den. Nic Moore scored 17 points in his first game back from an ankle injury, Jordyn Coon totaled 13 points, and Lucas Grose tallied 12 for Warsaw. The short drive to Syracuse will be more than worth the action-packed night of Indiana high school basketball.
Go Tigers!
