The T.V. cameras continue to follow Nic Moore. With each and every game becoming more and more important, the news crews know their viewers want to see the results from Warsaw Tiger basketball games.

On this night in Warsaw, Indiana it was the Northwood Panthers making their way into the Tiger Den. The Panthers sported an impressive 11-2 overall record. More importantly for Aaron Wolfe's Northwood squad was the fact that they had rattled off four consecutive NLC victories to share a top spot with the mighty Tigers.

Coach Wolfe had a game plan in mind.

The Panthers played a version of the old-fashioned playground game called "keep away". Northwood conceded early on that they could not run up and down the court with Nic Moore and the Tigers. Instead, they held the ball methodically on each possession. Often times for 2 to 3 minutes before even attempting a shot.

Coach Doug Ogle and his Warsaw squad simply stayed patient.

Nic Moore's NBA range 3 point basket at the first quarter buzzer, capped a calm & collected period of play for the Tigers. Moore held his pose as the ball sailed through the hoop. Warsaw fans jumped to their feet to celebrate their Mr. Basketball candidate's heroics. After all, there was not much to cheer for during the Northwood stall that seemed to last the entire 8 minutes.

Warsaw led 10-5 after one quarter of play.

Sir Sic Nic took over the game in the second quarter of action. Moore scored 11 of Warsaw's 13 points and outscored the ENTIRE Northwood team in the period 11 to 10. In a game like this where the number of possessions are few, Warsaw's 8 point halftime lead might as well been 25 points.

Halftime Score: Warsaw 23 - Northwood 15

Northwood stuck to their guns and continued to sit on the ball. The Panthers simply did not have the courage to open up this game. Interestingly enough, the outcome ended up the same. The Warsaw Tigers and their superstar point guard were just too good for their conference rival. Whether it's run-n-gun or turtle paced ball, Warsaw would have won and Northwood knew it. You could see it in the player's eyes as time continued to tick away.

Warsaw played great defense in this contest. Only a few times was Northwood able to get an easy look at the basket. The Tigers held the Panthers to just 11 field goals for entire game, while forcing 14 turnovers.

Warsaw once again shot over 50% from the field going 17 for 30. Coach Doug Ogle's team has really done an excellent job of getting high percentage shots in their offensive sets. Nic Moore continues to shoot greater than 55% from the guard position and Sir Sic Nic is now an amazing 46% (47 for 102) from 3 point land. Great offensive execution from the Tigers!

Final Score: Warsaw 44 - Northwood 32

With the victory Warsaw now sits alone at 5-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference. The Tigers improve to 13-1 for the season and will likely move up to the #3 ranking in the State of Indiana. Previous #3, Bloomington South, was beaten tonight by Indianapolis Pike.

The Tigers will host Culver Military Academy Saturday night in the Tiger Den. CMA has an impressive 8-4 record and will look to knock off Warsaw on their home floor. Nic Moore needs just 1 point in Saturday's contest to pass 1985 Mr. Basketball Jeff Grose as the Tigers second leading scorer of all time. Moore has a career total of 1,748 points.

Nic Moore's bid to become the third Warsaw player to win Indiana Mr. Basketball can now be tracked online: http://www.nicmoore2011.com

Moore, Cody Zeller from Washington High School, and Marquis Teague from Indy Pike are considered to be the top three candidates for Mr. Basketball. Obviously, the longer your team can stay in the running for a 2011 Indiana State Championship at Conseco Field House, the better a player's chances to win the award. Moore and Teague certainly have a tougher battle ahead of them as they both play against much tougher competition in the 4A tournament pairing. Zeller plays down a level at 3A.

Come to the Tiger Den Saturday night to cheer on your 13-1 Warsaw Tigers. This contest will be a much more exciting game to watch then Friday's game.
