BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Ho hum, another day, another major milestone for Kyle Mangas. For his latest eye-popping accomplishment, Mangas became the first player in Indiana Wesleyan men’s basketball history to eclipse 3,000 points, hitting the mark Friday afternoon in his team’s 84-82 win against No. 16 Faulkner University.

He hit the milestone with his first basket of the second half, his eighth point of the contest. Every one of his 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three blocks and a steal were needed as the Falcons nearly handed IWU its second straight loss. Mangas hit a free throw with three seconds remaining to give IWU the two-point lead, then the Wildcats forced a turnover with one second left to hold on for the victory.

It was a huge second half for Mangas, who had just four points at the break as IWU lead just 45-41.

Seth Maxwell provided 15 points and eight rebounds, Dylan Alderson added 15 points and six rebounds and Tayson Parker had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Wildcats.

Mangas, an Indiana All-Star as a standout for Warsaw Community High School, is the reigning three-time Crossroads League Player of the Year, a two-time NAIA Player of the Year and the 2020 Bevo Francis Award winner, the NAIA’s highest collegiate honor.
