Lady Tigers Tested by Columbia City Tuesday Night

After an exciting double overtime Warsaw win in the JV game Tuesday night, the Lady Tiger Varsity basketball team took the floor looking to keep their perfect record in tact. Led by Alex Bunyan's 18 points, the Lady Eagles from Columbia City proved to be a formidable match for the Tigers. Columbia City led 16-12 after one period of action. Tiger fans began to wonder if the Lady Eagles were too tough on this cold winter night.

The Lady Tigers would respond by outscoring Columbia City 10-8 in the second quarter. Warsaw trailed by only two points at the break 24-22.

The Lady Tigers used a big 3rd quarter to position themselves for a 7th consecutive victory. Warsaw scored 19 3rd period points as the Eagles managed just 13.

End of quarter number 3: Warsaw 41 - Columbia City 37

The fourth quarter would boil down to free throw shooting. The Lady Tigers came into this contest shooting 74% (107 makes-144 attempts) as a team from the foul line. They would improve on that percentage while beating the Lady Eagles on this night. The Warsaw girls nailed an amazing 25 of 29 (86%) charity stripe tosses to improve to a perfect 7-0 on the season.

Final Score: WARSAW 57 - COLUMBIA CITY 52

Once again, senior Kelci Freds led the Lady Tigers as she scored 15 points. Fellow classmate Sarah Shilling scored 10 while Kayla Stout and Cendall Ogle chipped in 8 ann 6 respectively. Freshman phenom Lindsay Baker scored a season high 8 points for the Lady Tigers.

Warsaw will travel to Wawasee Saturday night on thier quest for an 8-0 start in this pivotal NLC matchup.
