The Warsaw Lady Tigers shot out of the gate strong taking an early lead over Elkhart Memorial, but the Chargers' battled back in the second half and held on for a 52-41 victory over Warsaw in the Goshen Sectional semifinal.
The Tigers close their season with a 16-5 record. The 16-5 record matched coach Michelle Harter's most wins in a season that she set two years ago and the most since the 2003-04 Tiger team that finished 26-3.
Warsaw, led by Lindsay Baker's 18 points and five rebounds, jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led 22-19 at halftime. The Memorial pressure and defense clamped down in the third quarter as the Chargers went on top 35-29 at the end of three.
Sarah Heagy, Madison Davis, and Lauren Burish closed out outstanding careers - Heagy led underneath by scoring 10 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Burish pulled down six rebounds and had a pair of assists, and Davis had four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Warsaw - a team that defeated then No. 1 ranked Penn and took current No. 1 ranked Hamilton Southeastern to the wire - averaged a 55-40.5 scoring margin over its opponents this season.
