WARSAW – There was no shortage of offense on either side for Wawasee or Warsaw on the baseball diamond Thursday night.

The Warriors outscored the host Tigers by a 16-11 count in a Northern Lakes Conference matchup.

Wawasee got off to a fast start by scoring five runs in the opening frame. Warsaw came back with six in the second and one in the third to lead 7-5. Wawasee tallied three times in the fourth to take the lead for good and then added six in the sixth frame to put the game away.

Wawasee collected 15 hits on the night as the host Tigers used a total of seven pitchers.

Jacob Garcia had a big night at the dish for the winners. Garcia went 4-4, including a double, and drove in four runs for the Warriors.

Levi Brown and Jairus Boyer each had three hits for Wawasee. Jamie Slabaugh had a double and a triple and scored three runs.

Starter Carter Woody notched the pitching win. He went five innings, allowing just three earned runs.

Liam Patton led the 13-hit attack for the Tigers with three hits. Patton had a double.

Kyle Kuhn had two hits and Jared Hawley a triple for Warsaw.

Ian Glogovsky was tagged with the pitching loss despite throwing three strong innings for Warsaw.

The Warriors left six runners on base, while the Tigers stranded nine.

Wawasee improves to 3-2 overall and is 1-0 in the NLC. The Tigers fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in NLC action.

Warsaw won the junior varsity game 5-4.

Warsaw plays at Plymouth and Wawasee hosts NorthWood in NLC games Friday night.
