The Warsaw Tigers jumped out to an early lead and held off a Goshen rally, claiming a 13-11 victory in the first round of the IHSAA Sectional at Elkhart Memorial.
Brock Anson, Jason Ferguson and Kyle Morris each collected three hits to pace the Tigers' offensive attack. Ferguson's triple to lead off the game and started a 2-run first, and Anson's grand slam homer over the left-centerfield wall highlighted a burst in the fourth that helped provide Warsaw some early cushion.
Jake Speicher also had a pair of hits, including a double that drove in three runs, and Kyle Morris' blasted a 2-RBI double that highlighted the early scoring attack for the Tigers.
Austin Franzen earned the victory on the mound, closing the game with the final 12 outs.
The Tigers will face Concord on Monday at 9am in the second round of the sectional. Elkhart Memorial will meet Elkhart Central in the second semifinal matchup.
