IHSAA BASEBALL REGIONAL ACTION - JUNE 5th
The Warsaw Tigers (18-11) and Penn Kingsmen (23-6) met at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in IHSAA Regional action. LaPorte (27-3) and Munster (21-8) followed at 2:00pm.
The Varsity Tiger Baseball team finished an amazing postseaon run Saturday night with a 5-3 loss to Munster. Coach Mike Hepler's squad won the IHSAA Sectional title last week by defeating Elkhart Central in the championship finale. The Tigers then defeated Penn for the second time in game #1 of Regional action Saturday morning. Munster knocked off heavily favored Laporte in their semi-final game to advance to play the Warsaw Tigers in the Regional final. The Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom of the 6th inning, but failed to push across two extra runs to tie the game.
SEMI-FINAL: WARSAW 2 - PENN 0
The Tigers moved to the championship game of the regional with the win over Penn on Saturday at LaPorte. Aaron Christenberry drove in two runs to support the six strikeout complete game performance of Josh Witt. Witt has been unhittable in the postseason by completely dominating opponents at the plate.
Christenberry and Joey Hickerson each hit doubles against Penn.
CHAMPIONSHIP: MUNSTER 5 - WARSAW 3
In the championship game Hickerson and Christenberry connected for doubles while Brady Ousley also had two hits. The Tigers finished their season at 19-11. Congratulations to the 2010 IHSAA Sectional Champions and the 2010 IHSAA Regional Runner-Up Warsaw Tigers.
What a great run! This senior class will be missed.
